PORTFOLIO - PATCH EXPEDITION

Reckless New Media has worked on all kinds of projects over the years but none quite as amazing as The Patch Expedition.
Steve Rogers and Sarah Waldron are no ordinary couple. The outdoors-loving team from North Wales met in the TA where their passion for being up in the mountains with total freedom sparked off their exciting joint goal.
In Spring 2011, Steve and Sarah will lead The Patch Expedition to embark on the ultimate human challenge and climb Mount Everest to raise £100,000 for UNICEF! They will carry a flag to the summit and on the flag will be 'patches' with the faces of everyone who have sponsored them through their website www.patchexpedition.com.
The money raised will go to UNICEF and will benefit the children of Nepal who live in severe poverty. Over half of them are malnourished and underweight. They have a fractured education system due to political conflict and many Nepalese children die from vaccine preventable diseases; 15% of the country's water wells are contaminated with arsenic.
Once training at Base Camp, 5,334 metres, is completed, it will take Steve and Sarah just a few days to reach the summit, 8,848metres. However, due to the severe conditions and intense preparations that they must do in order to get their bodies ready for the extreme altitude and physical strain, they will spend just over a year training in the UK and then around a month at Base Camp doing altitude training, hiking up a few hundred metres and back again to acclimatise their bodies.
We were so taken with the expedition that we have created their website as a Charity Project, enabling us to be a part of The Patch Expedition, helping as much as we can towards this great cause.
